Locating Banksy sites as Westminster Council orders removal of West End "vandalism"
Overzealous Westminster Council officials have ordered the Banksy mural near Oxford Street to be painted out, claiming that it is vandalism, not art.
The image which appeared over a weekend in May at the Newman Street site, off Oxford Street, shows a child in a red hoody on a ladder painting the slogan "One Nation Under CCTV" making the point that UK citizens are increasingly watched over by CCTV cameras.
The best examples of Banksy work in London are in an old tunnel off Leake Street within the shadow of Waterloo and the London Eye. Banksy brought together 39 artists together in May for The Cans Festival to create work in the tunnel. More...
